Uriah George 'Duncan' WARREN (b. 28 Oct 1854-d. 4 Feb 1930) m.ca. 1879 Catherine Jacobs 'Kit' THOMPSON (24 Dec 1855-28 July 1931). Both lived in Heard County, GA. He was the son of Sherod Warren and Jackabed Pace. Kit Thompson was the daughter of Abraham Thompson b. 1819 in SC and Martha 'Patsy' Adams b. 9 Jan 1842 in Coweta Co. GA. She was one of 10 children born to this union. Her father Absalom Thompson lived in Franklin Twp, Heard Co. GA. and served in the Southern cause in the Civil War, dying from a relapse due to measles on 19 May 1863, in a Richmond, VA hospital.
During the period that Uriah and Kit lived in Heard Co. GA they had many of her brothers and sisters living in Heard Co. as well. Uriah Warren listed himself as a 'laborer'in the 1880 census in Heard Co. GA where they were living. He moved his family to Henderson, Rusk Co. TX between 1881-1885. Uriah went by 'Duncan' and his wife Catherine went by 'Kit.' Uriah and Catherine had a total of 8 children, four born in GA and four born in TX after they moved. They came to East Texas seeking a better way of life. Uriah bought a house from his brother John Stephen Warren (who had also settled in Rusk Co TX after moving from Heard County, GA). They lived in a farm house north of Henderson in the Jacobs Community. The family attended the Fountainhead Methodist Church.
Census records from these years list him as a 'farmer.' His mother, Jackabed (Pace) Warren came from Heard Co. GA to Texas to live with her son Uriah Warren after her husband died. They experienced an unusually severe winter in Rusk County, TX in 1884/85 and many family members became severely ill. Uriah Warren's mother, Jackabed (Pace) Warren, died Feb. 1885 of pneumonia and most of the family were too ill to attend the funeral. The ground was frozen solid. She was buried in the Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in Rusk Co which was the 'nearest and most accessible' during this terrible winter.
In 1930 they still had two grown children living with them: Eula (44) and George Luther Warren (46) who never married. They had a good life in Henderson, Rusk Co. TX with a very large extended family and many social gatherings and reunions as their extended family grew. Even their youngest boy, Roy Warren, who had joined the Navy and built his home in Chula Vista, California managed to make it back with the 'Texas Warrens' to some of these reunions.
Uriah G. 'Duncan' and his wife Kit were illiterate and never learned to read or write. The only letters they ever sent were typed out and done by one of their children, usually his daughter Lonie Warren who worked for a time at the Mayfield-Alford Co (wholesale and retail general merchandise) in Henderson, Texas. Uriah 'Duncan' Warren died of a stroke in 1930 and Catherine Kit, his wife died of a heart attack one year later. One of Uriah's grandchildren, Nellie Florine Warren, daughter of William 'Arthur' and Mamie Brewer Warren died in the New London school disaster of March 18, 1937, along with more than 300 classmates, teachers and visitors.

Their 8 children (four born in GA before they moved, and four after they moved to TX) were:
