New Salem Academy lost it's new teacher, he has moved to Larissa in Cherokee county and will teach there instead.

Wm H Parsons, Esq, Editor of the Tyler Telegraph, was shot by Mr John Morgan, of the firm of Morgan & Tomlin, in Jefferson, on Wednesday morning of last week...

A young man name [sic] Pate was killed by his father, in Tyler, Smith county, last week. We know nothing of the particulars.

A man named Thomas Harper committed suicid [sic] in Jefferson, by shooting himself, on Tuesday evening, the 17th ult.
